PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wolfram Stelzer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ross Swann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stelzer's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Business Time. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wolfram Stelzer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ross Swann!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swann moves out of range as Stelzer strikes.
Stelzer is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Swann.
Swann doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
A looping hook to the body misses from Stelzer. Swann does a little dance to reset his feet.
Stelzer looks to throw the jab but Swann is out of range.
It seemed like Swann was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Wolfram Stelzer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Swann misses with a series of wild punches.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Stelzer, as that shot connected.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stelzer's jab looks to have found its range, popping Swann under the eye.

Stelzer throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Swann.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Swann! But no joy.

Stelzer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Stelzer definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Swann has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Stelzer.
Swann is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Stelzer.
Stelzer throws the left hand but Swann avoids the punch easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Swann! But no joy.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Swann stuffs the takedown attempt from Stelzer. Stelzer gets slowly back to his feet.
Swann lands a really nice looking cross but Stelzer seems unphased.

Stelzer closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Stelzer is putting a hurting on Swann here, landing some big shots from side control.
Stelzer creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Swann sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Stelzer tries for a kimura but Swann is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Swann's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stelzer's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Swann is looking for a sweep. Stelzer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Stelzer wants to take a breather but Swann is having none of it.

Swann fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stelzer manages to avoid it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Wolfram Stelzer will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Stelzer uses his free foot to push down on Swann's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Swann.
Swann tries to hold on but Stelzer postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stelzer wants to control the pace but Swann is squirming around nicely.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well Stelzer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
