The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Carruthers. That snapped Silva's head back.

Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Carruthers pushes Silva off but Silva dives into side control.
Carruthers is looking to reverse the position.
Carruthers is trying to control Silva's posture but Silva avoids it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That was a close round but I would say that Jimmy Carruthers will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Carruthers tries to bum rush Silva with a series of wild strikes but Silva uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Carruthers throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Silva stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Silva turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Silva manages to end up in side control.

Silva has hold of Carruthers's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Carruthers tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Silva cranks the arm and Carruthers screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Carruthers, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
