PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Erkki Heimolainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nebojsa Mihattovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mihattovic has chosen Geto Boys - Still as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Erkki Heimolainen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 19 - 2, fighting out of New York, Nebojsa Mihattovic!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Heimolainen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Heimolainen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Heimolainen wants it to stay on the feet.

Heimolainen instigates a clinch.
Mihattovic manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Heimolainen is trying to trip Mihattovic. He has hold of a leg but Mihattovic is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Heimolainen persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Heimolainen wants to control from the top but Mihattovic keeps moving.
Heimolainen passes Mihattovic's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Heimolainen is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Mihattovic reverses the position - he's now on top in Heimolainen's guard.

Mihattovic drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mihattovic jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mihattovic got a little sloppy there for a moment and Heimolainen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mihattovic has managed to get both his arms back between Heimolainen's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Heimolainen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Mihattovic holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Heimolainen tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Heimolainen misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
