Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Vazquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Conor McGregor!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Lou da Vinci and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McGregor looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Vazquez!
McGregor creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Vazquez sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McGregor decides to stand up, so the ref orders Vazquez to his feet.

McGregor closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Vazquez makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

McGregor shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than McGregor was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
McGregor remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

McGregor stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Vazquez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

McGregor closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Vazquez manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
McGregor thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vazquez's head.
Vazquez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McGregor on the ground.
Vazquez wants to improve his position but McGregor is controlling well.
McGregor has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
McGregor trying to control the pace.
McGregor not landing any meaningful shots this time.

McGregor is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Vazquez sees it coming and defends easily.
McGregor stalling.
Vazquez wants to get back to full guard but McGregor has mounted him!
Vazquez is in all sorts of trouble here.
McGregor content just to control the position here.

McGregor throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
McGregor controlling his opponent.
McGregor throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Vazquez because McGregor loaded up on that one.

Vazquez trying desperately to get to his feet.
McGregor sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
McGregor's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Conor McGregor dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Vazquez avoids the head kick by McGregor.

McGregor closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Vazquez to the mat! Vazquez manages to get full guard.
McGregor controls from within his opponent's guard.
Let's hope that McGregor has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Vazquez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McGregor is stalling in the full guard.
Vazquez is looking to sweep but instead, McGregor has passed into half guard.
McGregor not landing any meaningful shots this time.

McGregor wants to work for an arm triangle but Vazquez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
McGregor is figuring out what he wants to do next.

McGregor decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McGregor cracks Vazquez with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.


Vazquez is rocked!


It looks like John Vazquez has been cut.

McGregor shoots in for a takedown. Oh, that's a huge slam! Vazquez is on queer street and McGregor is pounding down on him with a barage of strikes. The ref is forced to step in and stop the fight. Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Conor McGregor!
