Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Josh Dale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Sorenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Dale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chad Sorenson!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Joseph Jones and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sorenson rushes Dale and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Sorenson lands a nice knee to the body.
Sorenson with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Sorenson lands with a right to the head.

Sorenson pulls guard.

Sorenson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dale defends well.

Sorenson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dale accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Sorenson keeping moving, preventing Dale from controlling successfully.
Sorenson pulls Dale in close to his closed guard and prevents Dale from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dale swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Dale lands a nice hook to Sorenson's body. Sorenson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Dale tries to pull guard but Sorenson forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Sorenson jumps guard.
Sorenson is adopting a defensive guard.

Sorenson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dale gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Dale has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Dale trying to control the position from guard on top but Sorenson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Sorenson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dale is one step ahead there.
Sorenson wants to get back to his feet but Dale is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Sorenson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dale doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dale manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Sorenson uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Sorenson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Sorenson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Dale bucks up and tries to throw Sorenson off but instead Sorenson has got his back!
Dale knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sorenson on the ground.

Sorenson is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Dale taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Sorenson.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Chad Sorenson!
Chad Sorenson decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
