The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fontana fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cooper manages to avoid it.
Nice uppercut there from Fontana.
Fontana throws a right hand that misses

and Cooper counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Fontana lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cooper is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Fontana won't allow Cooper to sweep him here.
Fontana passes into half guard.
Fontana is thwarting Cooper's attempts to control the position.
Cooper wants to sweep but Fontana has passed to side control!

Fontana tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fontana has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

And Cooper tries to counter it with a takedown but Fontana pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Tommy Cooper is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A lazy left from Fontana finds it's target.
Lucky Fontana seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cooper ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
And Cooper tries to counter it with a takedown but Fontana pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Fontana is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cooper is aware though and is defending well.
Cooper throws a big elbow that misses.

Cooper is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fontana doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cooper.

Cooper looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cooper in particular looking to stall.

Fontana makes his way to full guard, as Cooper worked for a kimura.

Fontana had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cooper defends it easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cooper loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Cooper drops back, looking for a kneebar! Fontana looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Fontana looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Fontana!


Fontana working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Fontana is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Cooper has his hands clasped together but Fontana extends and breaks Cooper's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Fontana.
