PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mantis Joniis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Boket (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boket has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boket fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Joniis, pushing him back against the cage.
Boket looks winded!

Joniis wants the takedown. Boket is fighting it off but Joniis persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Boket's guard against the cage.
Joniis lands a couple of digs.

Joniis drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Boket dives on top into guard.

Joniis wants to stand up but Boket is controlling him.

Joniis has his foot on Boket's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Boket works his way back into a safe position though.
Joniis is controlling Boket's posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Joniis is on top in guard.

Joniis stands up over Boket, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Joniis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Joniis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Joniis chips away with some ground and pound.
Boket is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Joniis distracts Boket with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Joniis lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Joniis drops back, looking for a kneebar! Boket looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Boket looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Boket!

Boket has control of an arm but Joniis manages to advance to Boket's back!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Joniis looking to break Boket's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Boket remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Joniis will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Joniis is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Boket. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Joniis lands strikes from the back and Boket isn't doing enough to escape the position. The referee steps in to end the fight.
