Pawiloks is keen to just control but Van Der Merwe is a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pawiloks wants to work for an arm triangle but Van Der Merwe is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pawiloks connects with a nice short shot to Van Der Merwe's temple.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Van Der Merwe is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Pawiloks scores with a couple of nice shots.

Pawiloks knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Van Der Merwe on the ground.
Pawiloks winds up and cracks Van Der Merwe with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Van Der Merwe is still in real trouble! Can Pawiloks finish him?
Pawiloks is nestled in close to Van Der Merwe, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
We've been informed that Van Der Merwe has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Pawiloks lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Van Der Merwe quite badly. Van Der Merwe pulls Pawiloks in close trying to recover. Pawiloks postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Van Der Merwe on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Van Der Merwe doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
