Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Rodrigo Mcfadden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Calvin Abueva!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abueva connects with a nice looking jab.
Mcfadden tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Abueva paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mcfadden moves in looking to clinch but Abueva pushes him off.
Despite the aggression on Abueva's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Abueva throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mcfadden drops down looking for a counter takedown but Abueva sprawls and moves away.
Mcfadden throws a head kick that misses
and Abueva counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Rodrigo Mcfadden has been cut.
Mcfadden tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Abueva swivels and escapes.
It seemed like Abueva was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Mcfadden tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Abueva scores with a counter punch that sends Mcfadden to the canvas! Abueva smells blood - he's punishing Mcfadden with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Mcfadden has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Calvin Abueva!
