PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Tuke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Quinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Tuke!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Igor Prikhodko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tuke gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Tuke misses with a short punch on the inside.
Quinn tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Quinn tries to throw a body punch but Tuke avoids it by throwing Quinn back against the cage.
Quinn tries to pull guard but Tuke forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Quinn tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tuke just stands there and leans against the cage.

Tuke manages to break the clinch.
Tuke punishes Quinn's body with a nice straight punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Quinn ducks right into an uppercut from Tuke.
Tuke wants to clinch up but Quinn keeps it at a distance.
It looked like Quinn was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Tuke.
Tuke tries to close the distance and clinch up but Quinn swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A jab lands there for Tuke.

Quinn ducks under a wild hook from Tuke.
Tuke throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tuke throws a jab when Quinn was well out of range.
Quinn misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Tuke counters with a one-two to the body.
Nick Tuke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Quinn scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Tuke is trying to get back to half guard.

Quinn thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Quinn is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Tuke has escaped the position, nice work there.
Tuke really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Quinn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Quinn wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tuke, who protects the arm well.

Quinn is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tuke is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tuke can do anything to dispel that myth.

That was a close round but I would say that Jack Quinn will probably get the nod.

Quinn ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Quinn no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Quinn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Quinn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tuke gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Quinn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tuke doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tuke manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Quinn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tuke's guard.

Tuke felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

We've been hearing that Quinn has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Quinn is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tuke can do to turn this around?

As Tuke backs away, Quinn returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Tuke's jab looks to have found its range, popping Quinn under the eye.
Tuke tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Quinn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Quinn attempts a counter takedown but Tuke avoids it well and moves away.

Nick Tuke seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Quinn takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

and Quinn counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Tuke tests Quinn's chin there with a solid looking shot.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Quinn has his foot on Tuke's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tuke works his way back into a safe position though.

Tuke got a little sloppy there for a moment and Quinn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tuke has managed to get both his arms back between Quinn's legs - danger averted.

Jack Quinn is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Tuke is fighting to break Quinn's control of his arms but Quinn is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Tuke must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Quinn continues to stall.

I think Quinn has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
