Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Daniel Saunders!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksandr Martynov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stephenson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Saunders's waist but Saunders gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stephenson off to one side.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Stephenson enables Saunders to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Stephenson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Stephenson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Saunders's guard.

Stephenson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stephenson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Saunders's head.

Stephenson connects with a couple of short punches.
Stephenson wants to control from the top but Saunders keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Stephenson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stephenson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Saunders's face.
Stephenson prevents Saunders from getting the reversal.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Saunders can do anything to dispel that myth.

Stephenson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Stephenson drops a big elbow. That's hurt Saunders! More shots from Stephenson and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

A relieved looking Robert Stephenson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
