PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Domilis Radys (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Rose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Domilis Radys!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Peter Rose!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Daniel Franklin and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rose moves into the clinch successfully.
Rose tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Rose breaks from the clinch.
Radys throws a body kick that misses.
Radys on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Rose closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Rose thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Radys keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Rose wants to control but Radys is keeping him busy.
Rose sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Radys defending well though.
Radys is trying to control but can't.
Rose controlling the action here.
Radys's coaches at Harambe Remembrance Hall have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Rose throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Rose throwing shots but Radys is blocking nicely.

Rose is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Radys doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rose.
Rose is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rose throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Radys stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Crunch! Radys slams his shin into Rose's torso.
Radys looks for a takedown but Rose sprawls well.
Radys leaves Rose with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Peter Rose seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Radys closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Radys lands in his opponent's guard.

Rose pushes Radys off and scrambles back to his feet.

Radys fails with a takedown attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Radys as Rose shoots in.
Rose tries a head kick but it misses.
Rose shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Domilis Radys has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Rose.

Radys dives in and scores a takedown into Rose's guard.

Rose manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Rose looks winded!
Rose wants a takedown.
Radys looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Radys breaks the clinch.

Radys lands a head kick!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Radys shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rose defends it nicely.
Rose takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Rose's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Radys connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Rose scrambles back to his feet.

Rose shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Radys's guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Radys holds on and takes a little breather.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Rose dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Radys throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rose appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Rose swinging wildly here.
Domilis Radys is winning the standup battle so far.
A head kick from Radys lands but Rose takes it in his stride.
Radys misses with a low kick as Rose jumps back.
Rose tries to counter with a clinch but Radys shakes him off and moves away.
Rose gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Radys counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Radys.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rose changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Radys fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Nice sprawl there from Radys as Rose shoots in.
Domilis Radys has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Rose.
Radys tries to land a front kick but Rose steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Radys fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Radys looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Rose!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rose manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Rose not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rose in particular looking to stall.
Peter Rose has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rose is continuing to stall.

Radys keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Radys tries to kick Rose off but Rose keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Radys controlling the position for now.

Radys kicks off Rose and gets to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Radys tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rose was well out of range. Poor timing from Radys.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rose gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Rose checks a leg kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rose tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Radys defends well and Rose ends up having to push Radys into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Radys swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Rose has his takedown stuffed

and Radys counters with a single leg into guard. Rose didn't expect that.
Rose looking for a sweep. Not yet Rose, not yet.

Radys decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Radys bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rose tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Radys has good solid back control here.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rose is in bad spot here.
Radys is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Radys stuffs the takedown.
Radys fails to land the takedown.
Rose tries to counter by closing the distance.
Radys looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
No luck for Rose with that takedown attempt.
Radys throws a sloppy head kick and Rose moves out of range easily.
Rose checks the leg kick nicely there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rose shoots in for a takedown but Radys shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Radys seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Domilis Radys has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Rose.

Radys feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Rose takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Rose has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Radys can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Radys sitting in guard here, content to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rose looking to hit a scissor sweep but Radys is one step ahead there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Radys gets to his feet - Rose follows without any prompting.
Danga de danga de dang - Radys scores with a four punch combination!
Radys shoots in and drives through. Rose sprawls well.
Rose fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Radys avoids it really well and circles away.
As Rose looks to move away, Radys throws a big counter combo but Rose just gets out of the way.
Rose stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Radys.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rose is defended easily by Radys.
Radys throws a series of punches but Rose moves out of range.
Rose shoots in looking for a takedown. Radys tries to sprawl out of it but Rose keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Radys manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Radys clinches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Radys jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rose walks away with a smile on his face. Radys gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Rose fails with a takedown attempt.

Radys manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rose on his heels. He'll look to pass Rose's guard now, I'm sure.

Radys gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Radys is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rose can do to turn this around?

Radys clinches up with Rose and pushes him back against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Radys breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nice sprawl there from Radys as Rose shoots in.
Radys misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
Domilis Radys showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Radys has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
