Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Cody Dillabrandt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cody Dillabrandt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Gordon!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Ron Honeybunn and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch lands to the side of Gordon 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Dillabrandt moves into the clinch successfully.
Dillabrandt drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Gordon gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Gordon pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gordon keeping moving, preventing Dillabrandt from controlling successfully.
Gordon looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dillabrandt is one step ahead there.
Dillabrandt has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Dillabrandt trying to control but Gordon is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gordon has momentary wrist control but Dillabrandt slips an elbow through the middle.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dillabrandt accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gordon wants to sweep here but Dillabrandt controlling him for the moment.

Gordon is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Gordon is rocked!
Gordon wants to stand but Dillabrandt is controlling the position.
Dillabrandt lands a couple of elbows.

Dillabrandt throws a strike but Gordon rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Dillabrandt is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gordon is aware though and is defending well.

Dillabrandt had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gordon defends it easily.
Dillabrandt looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Dillabrandt working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gordon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gordon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gordon wants to control from the top but Dillabrandt keeps moving.

Dillabrandt is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gordon defends well.
Gordon tries to free his leg and advance position but Dillabrandt is retaining full guard.
Dillabrandt has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Dillabrandt is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gordon is aware though and is defending well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gordon on the wrong end of a nice jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cody Dillabrandt dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Gordon gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Gordon wants the takedown. Dillabrandt is fighting it off but Gordon persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Dillabrandt's guard against the cage.

Dillabrandt has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gordon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dillabrandt is on top in guard.

Dillabrandt seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Cody Dillabrandt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Dillabrandt looking to sit in guard and control but Gordon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Dillabrandt has his foot on Gordon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gordon works his way back into a safe position though.

Dillabrandt has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Gordon is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Dillabrandt.
Dillabrandt is not content to let Gordon control the position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Dillabrandt regains half guard.
Dillabrandt is looking for a sweep. Gordon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gordon tries to pass to full mount but Dillabrandt defends it.
Gordon is looking to take a break and control but Dillabrandt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

A close second round but Daniel Gordon will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


A combination from Dillabrandt does no damage.

Gordon throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Dillabrandt tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gordon is in Dillabrandt's guard.

Dillabrandt tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gordon wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dillabrandt might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Dillabrandt forces Gordon back against the cage and clinches.
A frustrated look appears on Gordon's face as he tries to break the clinch.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dillabrandt accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gordon is still in real trouble! Can Dillabrandt finish him?

Dillabrandt is looking to work some ground and pound but Gordon has wrist control.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dillabrandt's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Dillabrandt seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gordon for as long as he can get away with.

Well Dillabrandt has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
