Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Maven Troers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maven Troers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Coleman!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Eddie Farnsworth and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Coleman drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Troers tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Coleman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Troers working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Coleman.
Troers preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Coleman postures up.
Coleman working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Coleman working some strikes from top position.
Coleman lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Troers controls Coleman momentarily but Coleman frees himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Coleman throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Coleman postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Coleman connects with a couple of short punches.
Coleman makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Troers avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Coleman working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Coleman stands up over Troers, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Coleman working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Coleman distracts Troers with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Coleman trying to control but Troers is working from the bottom.
Troers is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Coleman is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Coleman is looking to work some ground and pound but Troers has wrist control.

Troers kicks Coleman off and gets to his feet.
Maven Troers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Troers fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Troers misses with a double jab

and Coleman counters with a takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Troers gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Coleman missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Troers is trying to get back to full guard.
Troers has hold of Coleman's hands but Coleman slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Troers moves into full guard.
Troers is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Troers is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Troers trying to control the action but Coleman is working from the bottom.
Troers is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Coleman is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Coleman tries to roll over but Troers keeps him under control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Coleman can do anything to dispel that myth.

Troers maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Coleman could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Troers has cracked it and Coleman is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Troers!
