Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Danny Studge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rhys Coulthard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danny Studge!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rhys Coulthard!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

It looks like Rhys Coulthard has been cut.
Coulthard misses with a straight left.
Studge has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Thomas Top Team in the buildup to the fight.
Studge misses with a left hand
and Coulthard cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Studge drops Coulthard with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Coulthard looks back up at him and smiles so Studge waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Studge slips under a jab from Coulthard.
Coulthard avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Studge misses with an uppercut.
Coulthard takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Coulthard misses with a hook.
Studge is pawing at Coulthard, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Coulthard's nose. Coulthard is badly hurt! Studge pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Coulthard tries desperately to hold on but Studge is relentless in his assault! As Coulthard receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Studge away and this one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Danny Studge!
Danny Studge retains his lightweight title!
An out of breath Danny Studge thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
