The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ray throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Da Silva walks into a jab.
Ray jabs Da Silva right on the nose. Da Silva blinks but takes it well.
Ray has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
A left and a right from Ray both land. Nice combination.
Ray shoots in for a takedown but Da Silva shows good takedown defense.
Da Silva steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Ray.

Da Silva moves into the clinch.

Ray escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ray misses with a hook to the body
and Da Silva counters with a lovely straight right hand!
A nice combination there by Ray.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ray avoids the body shot from Da Silva.
Da Silva throws a right hand that Ray ducks under and follows up with a left that Ray also avoids with ease.
Ray appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Da Silva moves in looking to clinch but Ray pushes him off.
Ray appears to be looking for a big counter.

Ray gets the takedown into side control.
Da Silva is trying to control Ray's posture but Ray avoids it.

Ray wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Da Silva, who protects the arm well.
Da Silva is looking to regain half guard here but Ray keeps moving and retains side control.
Ray advances to full mount.
The referee warns Da Silva that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Ray tries to control but Da Silva wriggling away.

Da Silva is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Da Silva slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Ray is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Da Silva is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ray pulls his head out easily.

Ray wants to lay and pray for a moment but Da Silva keeps working.
Ray working over Da Silva with some ground and pound. Da Silva looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ray connects with a nice short shot to Da Silva's temple.

Ray is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Da Silva sees it coming and defends easily.

Da Silva can't escape the position.
Ray moves to the back position.
Da Silva tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Ray has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ray scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Da Silva?

Ray quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Ray but it's paid off an Da Silva is forced to tap! Nice work by Ray.
