PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Derozan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jagga Mushu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimmy Derozan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jagga Mushu!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Donald Grub and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Derozan shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Derozan connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Derozan misses with a straight left.
Mushu wants to clinch up but Derozan keeps it at a distance.
Derozan appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
A chopping leg kick lands by Derozan.
Mushu tries to score a power double leg takedown but Derozan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mushu somewhat.
Derozan throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Mushu takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Mushu dives in and grabs Derozan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Derozan pushes down on Mushu's head and hops out.
Derozan attempts a counter takedown but Mushu avoids it well and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mushu shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Derozan sprawls well. Derozan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mushu gets slowly back to his feet.
Jimmy Derozan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jagga Mushu.

Mushu shoots for a double leg takedown but Derozan sprawls well. He's pushed Mushu's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Mushu looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Derozan is fending him off so far but Mushu persists. Nope, Derozan circles away and we're back to standing.
Derozan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Derozan wants it to stay on the feet.

Derozan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Derozan content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Mushu is looking to control Derozan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mushu avoid being mounted?

Derozan is looking to advance position but Mushu won't allow it.

Derozan is nestled in close to Mushu, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Derozan enables Mushu to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Derozan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well, if Mushu is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mushu can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Derozan controls the pace.

Derozan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jimmy Derozan.
Well Derozan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Jimmy Derozan decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
