Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tony OngBak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kairo Schmeldty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kairo Schmeldty will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kairo Schmeldty!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Ben Watson and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmeldty jabs at OngBak's body.
OngBak closes the distance and clinches up with Schmeldty, looking for a takedown. OngBak pushes Schmeldty against the cage but Schmeldty circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

OngBak takes the fight into the clinch.
OngBak connects with a nasty looking knee right to Schmeldty's face.
OngBak lands a knee to the body.
OngBak blocks a body shot from Schmeldty.
OngBak just leaning against Schmeldty, taking a breather.
OngBak landing some nice looking knees to the body.
OngBak prevents Schmeldty from breaking the clinch.
Schmeldty can't break the clinch.

A battle for position here, against the cage.
OngBak is struggling to control the position.

Schmeldty misses with a hook to the ribs.

OngBak gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Schmeldty regains guard.
OngBak postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

OngBak gets to his feet - Schmeldty follows without any prompting.

OngBak closes the distance and pushes Schmeldty back into the cage.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. OngBak obliges.
OngBak is pushing Schmeldty up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Schmeldty has had enough of the clinch but OngBak keeps him there for the moment.

OngBak pulls guard effortlessly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
OngBak keeping moving, preventing Schmeldty from controlling successfully.

Schmeldty drops back, looking for a kneebar! OngBak looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. OngBak looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from OngBak!

Schmeldty is looking for a sweep.
OngBak working away.

OngBak has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

OngBak closes the distance and clinches.
Schmeldty jumps guard but OngBak stands there with Schmeldty around his waist. Schmeldty gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The referee calls for OngBak to work.
Schmeldty is trying to stall.

OngBak scores a nice knee to the body.
Schmeldty tries for a takedown but OngBak manages to get underhooks.
OngBak lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
OngBak putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Schmeldty in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

OngBak darts in and clinches Schmeldty up against the cage.

OngBak is pulling down on Schmeldty's head. It's preventing any offense from Schmeldty, at least for the moment.
OngBak knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schmeldty on the ground.

OngBak continues to stall.
Schmeldty pushing down on OngBak's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Schmeldty slows the pace down in half guard.
OngBak controlling the position for now.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Schmeldty is trying to control. OngBak wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Schmeldty stuns OngBak with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
OngBak throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Schmeldty to counter with a crisp jab.

Schmeldty tries to keep at a distance but OngBak has taken the fight into the clinch.

OngBak pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Schmeldty just misses with a punch to the body.
OngBak throws a sloppy head kick and Schmeldty moves out of range easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

OngBak lands a knee to the head.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
OngBak is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Schmeldty can do to turn this around?

Schmeldty tries to stall but OngBak uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

OngBak will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Schmeldty up against the cage.

OngBak lands a good knee to the midsection. Schmeldty won't want to take too many of those.

Schmeldty tries to pull guard but OngBak won't allow it.

OngBak has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Schmeldty regains guard immediately.
Schmeldty is trying to control the position from the bottom.
OngBak engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

OngBak lands with a kick to the temple. Schmeldty shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Kairo Schmeldty is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
OngBak throws a body punch but Schmeldty moves out of range.

OngBak is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

OngBak has Schmeldty pulled in close to control his posture.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Schmeldty throws a big elbow that misses.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Schmeldty trying to control but OngBak is working from the bottom.

Kairo Schmeldty has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Tony OngBak is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
OngBak controls Schmeldty momentarily but Schmeldty frees himself.

Tony OngBak showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for OngBak, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
