Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between MIchael Henley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ernesto Panado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Panado has chosen Lorde - Team as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. This should be fireworks!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ernesto Panado!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Alexandre Firmino and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Panado shoots in and drives through. Henley sprawls well.

Henley rushes Panado and presses him up against the cage.
Henley lands a body shot.

Henley's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Henley!

Henley clinches up with Panado and pushes him back against the cage.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Henley obliges.

Henley escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Henley has taken the fight to the clinch.

Henley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Henley fakes the leg kick and cracks Panado in the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nice takedown defense from Henley. No joy for Panado on that attempt.

Panado gets tackled into the cage by Henley. Henley maintains the clinch.
I was talking to Henley's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Panado throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Henley bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Panado's head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Henley gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Panado to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Panado stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Henley swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Panado throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Henley escapes and throws Panado's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Panado is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Henley is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Henley tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Henley wants to take Panado's back but he can't do it this time.
Panado is desperately trying to improve his position but Henley has a good base and remains in mount.

Henley is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Panado shoots in for a takedown but Henley shows good takedown defense.
MIchael Henley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ernesto Panado.
Panado changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Henley tries to avoid it but Panado manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Henley to the ground. Henley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Henley throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Panado.
Henley leaves Panado with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Henley throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Panado.
Henley leaves Panado with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Panado tries to score a power double leg takedown but Henley sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Panado somewhat.
A looping hook to the body misses from Henley. Panado does a little dance to reset his feet.
Despite the aggression on Panado's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Henley forces Panado back against the cage and clinches.
Come on Henley - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Henley works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Panado has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Henley seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Panado can turn it around.

Henley wants to control but Panado is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Panado is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Henley is just riding it out for now. Panado eventually gives up the hold.

Panado wants to pass to mount but Henley is defending the position.

Well Henley has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
