Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Prince Idowu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Idowu's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, My name is Prince. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Prince Idowu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joey James!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Idowu throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Idowu is on the wrong end of a nice combination from James.
James throws a right hand that Idowu ducks under and follows up with a left that Idowu also avoids with ease.
Idowu throws a series of punches but James moves out of range.
Idowu moves forwards but James connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Idowu throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
James lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

and James counters with a single leg into guard. Idowu didn't expect that.

James drops back, looking for a kneebar! Idowu looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Idowu looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Idowu!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
You can see the frustration on James's face as Idowu controls the position.
We've been hearing good reports from Idowu's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Idowu is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, James has managed to free his arm - good work.
James wants to improve his position but Idowu is controlling well.
James is trying to maintain the position but Idowu is very close to passing his half guard.

Idowu is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

James wants to control but Idowu is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Idowu decides to return to a standing position.
Idowu throws a jab but it's blocked by James.
Idowu walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
James looks to score with a jab to the body but Idowu is just out of range.

James misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Idowu cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Idowu takes a body punch but keeps moving.
James throws a series of punches but Idowu moves out of range.

James is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

and Idowu counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Idowu is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so James is just riding it out for now. Idowu eventually gives up the hold.
James gets full guard.

James has his feet on Idowu's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
James punishes Idowu's body with a nice straight punch.
James throws a series of strikes that have Idowu backpedaling.
James lands a two punch combo.
James swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Idowu lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but James circles away quickly and effectively.
James is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Idowu with a body shot.
No joy there for James, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
James throws a right hand that Idowu ducks under and follows up with a left that Idowu also avoids with ease.
A combination from Idowu does no damage.
James misses with a wild combination.
Idowu feinted with a counter takedown.
James fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Idowu avoids it really well and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joey James dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


James tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Idowu swivels and escapes.

James bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Idowu scores with a jab. James acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
James throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Prince Idowu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Idowu throws the left hand but James avoids the punch easily.
James is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Idowu shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and James counters with a left to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Oooooh!!! James has knocked Idowu down with a huge combo! James steps away and waves a wobbly Idowu back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
James tries to bum rush Idowu with a series of wild strikes but Idowu uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Oh Idowu is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Idowu slips a jab and a cross from James.
It looked like Idowu was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Idowu misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Prince Idowu. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd cheers as James lands an impressive looking overhand right. Idowu doesn't seem phased though.

James pounces like a tiger and cracks Idowu with a vicious hook! Idowu is down but not out! James follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:06 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Joey James!
In defeat, Prince Idowu stepped up to the mic, saying 'Not good.. fuckin' clinches.'.
