PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zeus Leonidas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackie Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A thudding body kick lands there by Chan!

It looks like Zeus Leonidas has been cut.
Leonidas swings away with a body shot that misses
and Chan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Chan waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Leonidas. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Leonidas to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

Leonidas is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Leonidas is looking to escape.
Chan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Leonidas tries to hold on but Chan postures up.
Leonidas is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at LOD Gym of the Gods, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Leonidas sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Chan is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Leonidas is looking to get back to full guard here but Chan has managed to pass to side control instead.
Leonidas is not content to let Chan control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Leonidas is defended easily by Chan.

Leonidas gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Leonidas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Chan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Chan stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Leonidas.
Leonidas takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Chan has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Leonidas counters with a nice low kick that buckles Chan's knee momentarily.

A looping hook to the body misses from Chan. Leonidas does a little dance to reset his feet.

Chan thuds his right hand into Leonidas's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Leonidas is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Chan frees his head nicely. Oh but Leonidas has switched to an armbar! Chan is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
