PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gunnar Jensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hans Zimmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gunnar Jensen had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 206.6lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Gunnar Jensen has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hans Zimmer!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Zimmer will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Zimmer shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jensen defends it nicely.
Jensen attempts a counter takedown but Zimmer avoids it well and moves away.
Zimmer tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jensen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Zimmer somewhat.

Zimmer closes the distance and clinches up with Jensen, looking for a takedown. Zimmer pushes Jensen against the cage but Jensen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Zimmer shoots in for a takedown but Jensen shows good takedown defense.

Zimmer shoots for a takedown but Jensen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

and Jensen counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Zimmer!
Zimmer wants to get back to his feet but Jensen is dominant here and he's now got Zimmer's back!

Jensen decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Zimmer shoots and misses

and Jensen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Zimmer won't be happy with that.
Zimmer bucks up and tries to throw Jensen off but instead Jensen has got his back!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jensen has good solid back control here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Zimmer fails with a takedown attempt.
Jensen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Zimmer can do to turn this around?
Zimmer tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jensen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Zimmer somewhat.

Zimmer throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jensen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Zimmer is in Jensen's guard.

Zimmer changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jensen tries to avoid it but Zimmer manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jensen to the ground. Jensen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jensen attempts a counter takedown but Zimmer avoids it well and moves away.
Zimmer shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Jensen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Zimmer wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Jensen manages to pass to side control.

Jensen attempts a counter takedown but Zimmer avoids it well and moves away.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zimmer can do anything to dispel that myth.

and Jensen counters with a single leg into guard. Zimmer didn't expect that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jensen gets to his feet - Zimmer follows without any prompting.

and Jensen decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Zimmer's guard.
Jensen is standing up over Zimmer. Zimmer looks to escape but Jensen dives into side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hans Zimmer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jensen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
