The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Karelis checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Ljashko throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Karelis tumbling to the canvas!

Karelis throws a wild body kick that Ljashko sees coming a mile off.
A head kick from Karelis lands but Ljashko takes it in his stride.
Ljashko bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
It looked like Ljashko wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Ljashko misses with the body kick
and Karelis counters with a nice uppercut.
Karelis circles away from the clinch attempt.

Karelis ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Karelis lands with a good body shot.
Ljashko throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ljashko closes the distance looking to clinch
and Karelis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Ljashko misses with a jab, cross combination.
Karelis is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Ljashko gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Karelis closes the distance and pushes Ljashko back into the cage.
Karelis swings wildly with an uppercut but Ljashko uses good head movement to avoid it.
Karelis misses with a hook to the ribs.
Ljashko is trying to break free.
Ljashko blocks a body shot from Karelis.
Karelis swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Ljashko breaks from the clinch.
Karelis tries to move into range but Ljashko moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Ljashko uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Karelis.

Ljashko lands a good knee to the midsection. Karelis won't want to take too many of those.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kostas Karelis will probably get the nod.
