Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marky Mark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). BJ Penn acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marky Mark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, BJ Penn!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn shoots in looking for a takedown. Mark tries to sprawl out of it but Penn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mark manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Mark shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Penn napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Mark is trying to get an arm triangle but Penn is defending well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Penn tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mark wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee asks Mark politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Mark prefers to stall for the moment though.
Mark could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Penn is trying to improve his position.
Mark moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Penn is looking to reverse the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Penn is looking to regain half guard here but Mark keeps moving and retains side control.
Mark controlling from side mount.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Mark thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Penn struggling a bit here.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mark works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Good standup being displayed there by Mark as he connects with a hook.
Penn blocks a jab.
Penn wants to clinch.
Penn takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Mark shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Mark seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mark seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Penn for as long as he can get away with.
Mark works his way into full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Mark's jab looks to have found its range, popping Penn under the eye.
Mark stalks Penn and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Penn's face. Penn staggers backwards, shaken.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Penn.
Mark fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Penn looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Mark throws a hook but Penn blocks it.
Mark thuds a left hand into Penn's body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Penn is defended easily by Mark.
Mark half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Nice straight punches there by Mark. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Mark.

Penn fails with an attempt to clinch.
Penn avoids the body shot from Mark.
Mark works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Penn shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Marky Mark has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of BJ Penn.
Penn tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mark sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Penn somewhat.
Mark swings for the body but Penn moves out of range.
BJ Penn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mark scores with a hook to the body. Penn takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Penn gets caught flat footed, as Mark shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Penn can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mark controls the pace.
Mark wants to pass the guard but Penn is keeping the position.

Mark controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Donk. Mark catches Penn right on the button with a cross.
Mark looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mark scores with a sloppy right hand. Penn should have avoided that one.
Mark scores with a nice head shot.
Mark listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Penn.
Mark lands with a good body shot.

Penn is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mark sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Penn has a takedown stuffed.
Mark lands with an overhand left.
Mark misses with a series of wild punches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Penn gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mark tries to free his leg and advance position but Penn is retaining full guard.

Mark is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Penn is trying to control the position but Mark postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marky Mark dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Penn is looking to land body kicks.
Marky Mark is winning the standup battle so far.
Mark lands with a right hand.
Penn has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Mark finds it's way round the side to connect with Penn's head.
Nice takedown defense from Mark. No joy for Penn on that attempt.
Penn takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Penn will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mark bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Penn's head.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Penn.

Penn tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mark swivels and escapes.
Mark scores with a hook to the body. Penn takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Mark connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Penn tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mark manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mark appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Mark shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Penn kicks Mark off and gets back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Penn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mark manages to avoid it.

Mark is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Penn's half guard.
Mark uses his free foot to push down on Penn's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Penn.

Penn is looking to improve his position but Mark isn't that keen on the idea.
Mark sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Mark has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Penn stops Mark from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Mark takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Mark manages to capitalize on a mistake by Penn to take his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
What can Penn do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Marky Mark overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mark is persistently looking for the submission but Penn is defending it well.

Penn is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

And that's the end of the fight!
Marky Mark showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Mark has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Marky Mark decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
