Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frank Hodges (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bryan Johnson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frank Hodges!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bryan Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson throws a jab but it's blocked by Hodges.
Frank Hodges seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hodges fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Johnson manages to avoid it.
Johnson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Hodges closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Johnson did well to prevent Hodges getting side control.
Hodges thows a huge punch but Johnson dodges it nicely.
Hodges winds up and cracks Johnson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Hodges is working for a kimura here but Johnson manages to reverse the position and he's now in Hodges's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson tries to stand but Hodges is controlling from the bottom.

Hodges is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Johnson wants to stand but Hodges is controlling his posture from full guard.
Hodges on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hodges tries to get out of the position.

Hodges has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Johnson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Johnson is fighting to break Hodges's control of his arms but Hodges is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Johnson wants to stand and escape but instead Hodges has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Johnson wants to get back to his feet but Hodges is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Hodges is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hodges trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom.
Johnson is looking to stand up but Hodges isn't so interested in that idea.
Hodges scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Johnson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hodges is controlling him.

Johnson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Johnson tries to circle away but Hodges has him pinned against the cage.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Frank Hodges will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hodges.
Johnson takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Hodges throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Johnson counters with a stiff right hand.
Hodges rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Johnson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Johnson cracks Hodges with a right hand to the side of the head.
Hodges tries to clinch up but Johnson circles away and keeps his distance.

Hodges throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hodges is in Johnson's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Johnson wants to stand and escape but Hodges is having none of it.

Johnson pushes Hodges off and gets back to his feet.
Johnson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hodges sees it coming and avoids it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hodges stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Johnson looks to land a combination. Hodges sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Hodges breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hodges throws a lazy head kick
and Johnson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Johnson avoids the body shot from Hodges.
Hodges tests Johnson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Johnson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Johnson tries to sprawl but Hodges drives through with a takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hodges prevents Johnson from standing back up.
Hodges content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Hodges is nestled in close to Johnson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Johnson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Hodges is taking a breather. Johnson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Johnson is refusing to be controlled, as Hodges sits in half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hodges controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Bryan Johnson seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Hodges throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That was a close second round but I would say that Frank Hodges will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
