The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mundy uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Vasla.
Vasla is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mundy sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and Vasla counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mundy won't be happy with that.
Mundy is trying to escape the position but Vasla is controlling the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mundy stops Vasla from passing to mount.
Vasla throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Mundy works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A low kick from Mundy is predictable there

so Vasla counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Vasla wants to stand but Mundy has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Mundy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Vasla counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Vasla jumps guard but Mundy stands there with Vasla around his waist. Vasla gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Vasla breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Vasla on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Vasla avoids the head kick by Mundy.
Vasla dives in and grabs Mundy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mundy pushes down on Vasla's head and hops out.

Mundy buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Mundy throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Vasla.

That was a close round but I would say that Vasile Vasla will probably get the nod.

Mundy is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Vasla has managed to free his arm - good work.

Vasla has one foot on Mundy's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Mundy explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Vasla tries to clinch up but Mundy circles away and keeps his distance.

Mundy fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Vasla has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Billy Mundy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mundy fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vasla avoids it really well and circles away.

Vasla changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mundy tries to avoid it but Vasla manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mundy to the ground. Mundy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Mundy gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Vasla to score an easy takedown into full guard.
