PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tristan Fenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Harrass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fenix comes to the cage accompanied by For Heavy Metal we will die!. The crowd seem to be enjoying Harrass's choice of entrance music: Tomorrow. Phil Harrass has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tristan Fenix!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Phil Harrass!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fenix cracks Harrass with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
A telegraphed right hand from Harrass misses the target.
Fenix tried to counter with a leg kick but Harrass avoided it.

Harrass looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Some bone on bone action there as Harrass checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fenix is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Harrass.

Phil Harrass is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Fenix closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Harrass has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Fenix avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Harrass has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Fenix regains guard immediately.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Tristan Fenix overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fenix escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Harrass gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Harrass sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Fenix's guard.

Harrass is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Fenix has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Harrass escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Harrass!

Harrass has hold of Fenix's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Fenix tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Harrass cranks the arm and Fenix screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Fenix, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Phil Harrass!
Phil Harrass decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
