PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sven Gerber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sara McSlamm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gerber kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Rammstein - Sonne. Sara McSlamm acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 44 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sara McSlamm!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McSlamm is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Gerber.


It looks like Sara McSlamm has been cut.
Gerber tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McSlamm paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Gerber tries to work over McSlamm's front leg with a kick but McSlamm checks it.
McSlamm misses with a takedown
and Gerber cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Gerber scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Gerber tries to stand but McSlamm is controlling his head.
McSlamm is looking to regain half guard here but Gerber keeps moving and retains side control.

Gerber working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Gerber cracks McSlamm with a big right hand but McSlamm just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gerber throws an elbow but McSlamm slips to the side and avoids it well.

McSlamm parries the strikes from Gerber easily there. Gerber is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable McSlamm to escape.
McSlamm is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Gerber off and has taken his back!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gerber is trying to break free.

McSlamm lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

McSlamm really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gerber. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gerber isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. McSlamm stacks Gerber on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by McSlamm!

McSlamm wants to control from the top but Gerber keeps moving.
We've been hearing good reports from Gerber's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
McSlamm prevents Gerber from getting back to his feet.
Gerber will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gerber misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gerber shoots in and drives through. McSlamm sprawls well.
McSlamm is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Gerber with a body shot.
Gerber scores with a hook to the body. McSlamm takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Gerber is looking to clinch but McSlamm is avoiding it.
McSlamm cracks Gerber with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gerber tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but McSlamm defends well and Gerber ends up having to push McSlamm into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gerber bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McSlamm's guard.

Gerber stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McSlamm swivels though and keeps the full guard.

McSlamm has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Gerber distracts McSlamm with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Gerber lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Gerber scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Gerber is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McSlamm is just riding it out for now. Gerber eventually gives up the hold.

McSlamm is rocked!
McSlamm takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Gerber throwing shots but McSlamm is blocking nicely.
Gerber is thwarting McSlamm's attempts to control the position.

Gerber moves nicely into side control.
Gerber has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gerber is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but McSlamm is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Gerber stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Gerber moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Gerber drops McSlamm with a right and a left! Gerber comes rushing in but McSlamm regains his composure and manages to keep Gerber in guard.
McSlamm is still in real trouble! Can Gerber finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McSlamm seems to have recovered his senses.

McSlamm is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Gerber lands a big left to the face of McSlamm, bouncing his head like a basketball. Another shot from Gerber and another - McSlamm is out! Gerber stands up and salutes his fans, who are going crazy in the stands.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Sven Gerber!
Sven Gerber thanked the fans post fight for their support.
The defeated Sara McSlamm had this to say: 'I made a mental error. when your flipping a burger thats not a big deal. you dont go to the hospital after forgetting to put the pickle on it... I gotta heal up but ill be back.'.
