The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGilvray tries a head kick but it misses.

McGilvray fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cotton, pushing him back against the cage.

McGilvray looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cotton with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Cotton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McGilvray is working away from the top position though.

McGilvray is nestled in close to Cotton, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

McGilvray is trying to drag Cotton to the mat but Cotton just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Nice takedown defense from Cotton. No joy for McGilvray on that attempt.

The fight stays on the outside here - Cotton looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
McGilvray drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Cotton defends it well.
