PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kim De Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raquel Juarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kim De Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raquel Juarez!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Juarez goes for a double leg but De Silva avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as De Silva continues to drive forward.
De Silva appears to be looking for a big counter.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

De Silva lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Juarez wants to get back to full guard.

De Silva stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Juarez to get to his feet.

De Silva has closed the distance and engaged Juarez in a clinch.
Juarez is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

De Silva gets control of Juarez's arms and successfully pulls guard. De Silva will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Juarez wants to control from the top but De Silva keeps moving.

Juarez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Juarez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
De Silva is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Juarez is looking for a sweep. De Silva is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
De Silva takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Juarez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of De Silva's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take De Silva's back!

De Silva is trying to shake Juarez off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Juarez won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.

De Silva drives through with a takedown into Juarez's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Juarez has his foot on De Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. De Silva works his way back into a safe position though.

Juarez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. De Silva is aware though and is defending well.

Juarez goes for a double leg but De Silva avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as De Silva continues to drive forward.
Kim De Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raquel Juarez.
De Silva tries to bum rush Juarez with a series of wild strikes but Juarez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
De Silva lands a head kick. Juarez smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Juarez jumps guard but De Silva turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

De Silva stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and De Silva wants it to stay on the feet.

De Silva looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

De Silva stands up and beckons Juarez to join him on the feet.

De Silva bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Juarez feints the counter takedown.
De Silva tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Juarez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but De Silva swivels and escapes.
De Silva misses with a head kick.
Juarez is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

De Silva closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - De Silva lands in his opponent's guard.

De Silva throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Juarez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. De Silva is in Juarez's guard.

Juarez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. De Silva is aware though and is defending well.

Juarez wants to sweep here but De Silva controlling him for the moment.
De Silva stays in close to Juarez's body and controls the position.
De Silva seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Juarez for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Juarez tries to sprawl but De Silva drives through with a takedown into half guard.
De Silva moves into full mount! Juarez won't be happy about that!
De Silva has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Juarez's face.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Juarez looks for a takedown but De Silva sprawls well.

De Silva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Well De Silva has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Kim De Silva rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
