PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marco Ajax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mystery Perfect (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ajax kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is For Heavy Metal we will die!. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

With a record of 11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Mystery Perfect!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and Phil Schofield.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ajax jabs Perfect right on the nose. Perfect blinks but takes it well.
Perfect feints and then cracks Ajax's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ajax down.
Perfect lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
A clash of legs there as Perfect blocks the low kick.
Perfect fakes the leg kick and cracks Ajax in the body.
Ajax throws a jab but it's blocked by Perfect.
A little jabbing left from Perfect on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Ajax is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Perfect.
Ajax feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Perfects jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Perfect shoots in but no luck this time.
Perfect closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Ajax throws a body shot but no joy.
Perfect was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Perfect looks to land a right hand but Ajax moved out of range.
It looked like Ajax wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Marco Ajax seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ajax throws an overhand right that lands on Perfect's shoulder, as Perfect tries to avoid the shot.
Some bone on bone action there as Ajax checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Perfect.
We've been hearing reports that Ajax has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Perfect fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ajax.

As Perfect looks to move away, Ajax throws a big counter combo but Perfect just gets out of the way.
Perfect blocks a jab.
Ajax takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Perfect ducks under a wild hook from Ajax.
Perfect lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ajax's sensitive parts.

Perfect closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Ajax tightens his grip and picks Perfect up, before dumping him to the ground. Perfect manages to land in guard.
Ajax throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Perfect works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Perfect preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Perfect bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ajax's guard.

Perfect lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Perfect's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Ajax has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Perfect can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Perfect stays in close to Ajax's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ajax has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Perfect can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Perfect trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Ajax is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ajax is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Ajax has momentary wrist control but Perfect slips an elbow through the middle.
Ajax wants to sweep here but Perfect controlling him for the moment.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ajax holds on and takes a little breather.

Ajax has his foot on Perfect's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Perfect works his way back into a safe position though.

Perfect with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Ajax is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Perfect throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Ajax is trying to keep Perfect in close.
Perfect lands a couple of elbows.
Ajax can't keep his opponent in guard - Perfect advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mystery Perfect will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Ajax shoots in for a takedown but Perfect shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Ajax feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Perfect is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Ajax does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Perfect slips a jab from Ajax.
Ajax backing away here, and Perfect unleashes a leg kick that just misses.

Ajax connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Perfect's hands.
Perfect throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Ajax catches Perfect with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Perfect comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Ajax moves out of range of the body kick from Perfect.
Ajax shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Perfect sprawls well. Perfect wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ajax gets slowly back to his feet.

The fight stays on the outside here - Perfect looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Ajax has managed to clinch.
Perfect drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Perfect lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Perfect has picked Ajax up - he's going for a ride! Perfect dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Ajax makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ajax.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Perfect working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Mystery Perfect has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ajax throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Perfect escapes and throws Ajax's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Perfect is trying to control the action in half guard but Ajax is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Perfect winds up and cracks Ajax with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Ajax might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ajax closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ajax connects with a nice short shot to Perfect's temple.
Ajax seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Perfect does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Perfect throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Ajax's head.
Ajax takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Mystery Perfect is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Ajax scores with a sloppy right hand. Perfect should have avoided that one.
Perfect moves out of range of the leg kick from Ajax.
Perfect avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Perfect uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ajax has time to react.

Ajax closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Perfect to the mat! Perfect manages to get full guard.
Ajax throws a strike but Perfect rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Perfect got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ajax has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Perfect has managed to get both his arms back between Ajax's legs - danger averted.

Ajax is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Perfect defends well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Marco Ajax.
I think Perfect has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
