Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tony OngBak!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with OngBak, pushing him back against the cage.

OngBak manages to break the clinch.
OngBak dives in and grabs Smith's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes down on OngBak's head and hops out.
Smith throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Smith tries to keep at a distance but OngBak has taken the fight into the clinch.
OngBak missing with knees to the body.
OngBak tries to land knees in the clinch but Smith avoids the damage to the body.
Smith misses with a shot to the kidneys.
OngBak is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
OngBak lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith lands a body punch in the clinch.

Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sloppy strikes from OngBak. Those never looked like landing.

OngBak shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Smith is trying to defend but OngBak finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

OngBak manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Smith keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smith looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

OngBak blocks a body shot from Smith.

Smith blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

OngBak breaks the clinch.
Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
We've been informed that OngBak has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

OngBak gets tackled into the cage by Smith. Smith maintains the clinch.
Smith avoiding damage as OngBak throws knees to the body.
Smith goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Smith takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
OngBak trying to stall but Smith improves his position.

OngBak's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

A close round but Tony OngBak will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Smith clinches up with OngBak and pushes him back against the cage.
Smith scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Smith on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
OngBak changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Smith fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Smith circles away from the clinch attempt.
Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body but OngBak moves away.
Smith has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Smith closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
OngBak tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Smith avoids it.
A right handed body shot lands from OngBak.

Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

OngBak follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

Smith clinches up against the cage.

Smith pushes OngBak back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
OngBak is looking to break free of the clinch but Smith has double underhooks.
OngBak is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Smith looking to stall.
OngBak wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Smith effectively controlling the action here.
Smith managing to block the knees to the body from OngBak.
Smith is trying to force a seperation but OngBak has the dominant position.
OngBak looking to throw knees to the head but Smith is blocking nicely.
Smith is looking to break free of the clinch but OngBak has double underhooks.

OngBak avoids the head kick by Smith.

OngBak fails to pull guard.

Smith gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from OngBak.
George Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony OngBak.
OngBak is breathing heavily.
OngBak wants to stall.

OngBak wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
OngBak is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Smith gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
A nice right hand lands inside from Smith.
Smith digs a right hand underneath OngBak's ribcage. OngBak let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Smith lands a right hand.

Smith breaks the clinch.

Smith lands a big head kick that sends OngBak tumbling to the mat! Smith takes a step backwards and waves OngBak back to his feet - he wants the finish!


OngBak is rocked!
Smith drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks OngBak right on the button. OngBak goes down! Smith follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Smith gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). George Smith!
