The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rob misses with a takedown attempt
and Mante counters with a series of strikes. Rob will be more careful next time no doubt.
Mante moves away from the strike by Rob.
Rob throws a big shot that misses.
Mante is looking to clinch.
Mante moves in looking to clinch but Rob pushes him off.
Mante throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rob defending well as Mante loads up on a big left hand.
Rob with the counter takedown but Mante avoids it easily.
Joey Mante seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rob avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mante shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Rob throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A head kick misses from Mante.
Rob is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Rob throws a body punch but Mante moves out of range.
Mante looks to land a combination but Rob avoids it well.
Mante is breathing heavily.
Rob shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mante as he avoids it easily.
Mante looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Rob scores with a takedown into Mante's guard.

Rob drops back looking for a leg! Mante is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mante manages to kick Rob off! Rob jumps back into Mante's guard.

Mante keeping moving, preventing Rob from controlling successfully.
Rob advances to half guard.
Mante on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mante tries to get out of the position.

Rob wants to work for an arm triangle but Mante is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Mante knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rob on the ground.
Rob is looking to take a break and control but Mante is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mante is refusing to be controlled, as Rob sits in half guard.

Mante tries to kick Rob off but Rob keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Rob has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Mante defend it? Rob steps over the head and cranks it - Mante is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Rob!
