PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Akira Hendrix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rama Arjuna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arjuna has chosen Om as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Akira Hendrix!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rama Arjuna!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Anthony Taglia and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A decent looking cross lands there for Arjuna.
Arjuna pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Hendrix back to the cage. Arjuna follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Arjuna connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
No joy there for Arjuna, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hendrix throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Arjuna misses with a series of wild punches.
Arjuna swats away the attempt to clinch by Hendrix.
Arjuna lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
We've been told by Hendrix's head coaches at Machine Fight Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Hendrix avoids the head kick by Arjuna.
Hendrix is looking to clinch but Arjuna is avoiding it.
Hendrix misses with a looping left.
Hendrix tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Arjuna manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Arjuna works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Arjuna lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hendrix circles away quickly and effectively.
Hendrix moves away from the strike by Arjuna.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Arjuna keeps the fight on the outside.
Hendrix misses with an uppercut
and Hendrix takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Hendrix looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Hendrix is rocked!
Sloppy strikes from Arjuna. Those never looked like landing.
A little feinted left hand from Hendrix on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Arjuna keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hendrix.
Arjuna misses with an uppercut. Hendrix saw that one coming.
A jab from Hendrix finds it's way through Arjuna's defenses.
Arjuna throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Hendrix stumbling backwards into the cage! Hendrix bounces back off the cage towards Arjuna, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Arjuna lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Arjuna celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Rama Arjuna!
Our winner, Rama Arjuna, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
