Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shinya Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lu Wai Ping (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wai Ping is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Once upon a time in China. On his way into the cage it seems that Shinya Aoki has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Shinya Aoki seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wai Ping closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Aoki 's guard.

Aoki tries to bum rush Wai Ping with a series of wild strikes but Wai Ping uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Aoki gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Wai Ping regains guard.

Wai Ping has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Aoki off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Aoki changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wai Ping looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Aoki thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
