The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phillips throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Phillips feints and as Barca raises his hands in defense, Phillips changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Phillips distracts Barca with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Barca is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Phillips throws a strike but Barca rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Barca sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Phillips's guard.

Barca is pressing down on Phillips's thigh, looking to free his foot. Phillips is holding on for now.
Phillips really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barca. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Barca is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Phillips is controlling an arm, preventing Barca from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Barca swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Phillips is now in Barca's guard. A big mistake from Barca there, giving up the dominant position!

Phillips throws an elbow that misses. Barca uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Phillips's guard. Nice move by Barca!

Barca stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Phillips swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Barca wants to control from the top but Phillips keeps moving.

Phillips looks up at the clock and then as Barca takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Phillips smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Phillips content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Barca has locked up a guillotine! Barca's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Phillips is holding on here and Barca must be using up a lot of energy. Phillips has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Barca gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
