The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kalai closes the distance and clinches.

Hammond's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hammond could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hammond fails to land the takedown.
Kalai fails with a takedown attempt.

Hammond gets tackled into the cage by Kalai. Kalai maintains the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kalai fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Hammond goes for a takedown attempt but Kalai pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Hammond gets a takedown into half guard.
Kalai wants to stand back up but Hammond manages to pass into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kalai trying to control but Hammond flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Hammond controlling well, preventing Kalai from escaping the position.

Kalai is trying to control his opponent's hands. Eventually Hammond gets his hands free and sinks in a rear naked choke. For a while it looks like Kalai is going to survive but after struggling valiantly, he eventually has to tap out! Hammond is your winner!
