Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Frank Shuman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nonito Donaire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Donaire has chosen Sia - Unstoppable as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Nonito Donaire told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shuman takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Shuman throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A big right from Donaire misses.
Shuman changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Shuman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Donaire is fending him off so far but Shuman persists. Nope, Donaire circles away and we're back to standing.
Shuman uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Donaire.

Shuman fails with a takedown attempt.
Donaire bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Shuman's head backwards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shuman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Donaire was well out of range. Poor timing from Shuman.

Donaire lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Frank Shuman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Donaire bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Donaire lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Donaire scores with a nice strike.
Donaire lets loose with a powerful body kick. Shuman will feel that in the morning.

Shuman has been working on his balance at 3Band MMA ($500/week), so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Donaire.

Shuman is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Donaire knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shuman has an Americana. Donaire didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Shuman is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Shuman hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
