Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thad Chase (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonard Owusu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thad Chase has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thad Chase!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Leonard Owusu!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Ron Honeybunn and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chase moves into the clinch successfully.

Owusu jumps into guard, dragging Chase to the mat.
Owusu utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Owusu working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Chase.
Chase could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Owusu is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Owusu is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Owusu unleashes a big counter combination but Chase bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Owusu has Chase pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Owusu pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Chase tumbling to the mat - Owusu dives into Chase's guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Owusu working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chase doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chase manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Leonard Owusu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chase gets caught flat footed, as Owusu shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chase takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Owusu is looking to escape.
Chase wants to control but Owusu is keeping him busy.
Owusu holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Chase is trying to control the action in half guard but Owusu is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Chase thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Owusu is looking to improve his position.

Chase tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Owusu counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Chase shoots in for a takedown but Owusu shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Owusu changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Chase looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Owusu lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Chase down.
A lull in the action here.

Owusu stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Owusu darts in and clinches Chase up against the cage.

Chase is fighting off a takedown attempt but Owusu is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Chase to the mat. Chase regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

I would just about give that final round to Leonard Owusu.
Well Owusu has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
