PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jericho Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Kingsley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kingsley has chosen Alpenglow (instrumental) - Nightwish as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 14 - 2, fighting out of New York, Jericho Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, James Kingsley!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill stuffs the takedown attempt from Kingsley. Kingsley gets slowly back to his feet.
Kingsley takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Hill buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Hill lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Kingsley connects with a crisp jab.
Kingsley throws the kick towards the body but Hill avoids it.
Kingsley scoring well with a low kick there.
Hill throws a body kick that misses

and Kingsley counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Kingsley working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Kingsley postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Hill has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Kingsley keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hill's head.

Kingsley is looking to pass into half guard but Hill pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Hill is in guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kingsley told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Kingsley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hill accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hill in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hill is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Kingsley is pulling down on Hill's head. It's preventing any offense from Hill, at least for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kingsley is trying to keep Hill in close.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Some bone on bone action there as Kingsley checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Hill throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Hill moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
No joy there for Kingsley, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kingsley scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Hill staying out of range there.
The fighters circling - Kingsley throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Kingsley scores with a crisp jab that stopped Hill in his tracks.
A big left from Kingsley misses.
Kingsley fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hill avoids it really well and circles away.
Kingsley shoots in but no luck this time.
Jericho Hill has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Kingsley.
Kingsley throws a series of punches but Hill avoids them all with ease.

A telegraphed right hand from Kingsley misses the target.
No luck for Kingsley with that takedown attempt.
Kingsley fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hill lands a head shot.

Hill fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Kingsley is out of range.
Kingsley drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Hill defends it well.
Hill tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kingsley was well out of range. Poor timing from Hill.
Hill throws a nice inside leg kick.
Kingsley throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hill counters with a low kick, right behind Kingsley 's knee.
Kingsley closes the distance and clinches up with Hill, looking for a takedown. Kingsley pushes Hill against the cage but Hill circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hill swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hill throws a nice outside leg kick.
Nice defenses there by Kingsley.
And Kingsley tries to counter it with a takedown but Hill pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hill swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jericho Hill will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Kingsley fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Hill bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Nice uppercut there from Kingsley.
Kingsley tries a head kick but it misses.
Kingsley takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Kingsley has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Kingsley ducks under a wild hook from Hill.
Kingsley might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Hill feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kingsley's calf.
Jericho Hill is winning the standup battle so far.

That kick from Hill tenderised Kingsley's leg. Kingsley is trying to keep his angry face on.
Kingsley will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hill looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Hill feints and then cracks Kingsley's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kingsley down.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
No joy there for Kingsley, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Kingsley fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hill on the side of the head.

Kingsley tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hill was well out of range. Poor timing from Kingsley.

Hill will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Hill wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Kingsley is now in half guard.
Kingsley is stalling here. Hill is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Kingsley seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hill has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kingsley tries to buck Hill off but Hill is having none of it.

Kingsley is striking well from the back but Hill escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jericho Hill will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Kingsley pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hill.
Hill throws a solid leg kick but Kingsley takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Hill.
Kingsley tries for a takedown but Hill sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kingsley stuffs the takedown attempt from Hill. Hill gets slowly back to his feet.

Hill throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kingsley tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hill is in Kingsley's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jericho Hill is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Hill not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

It looked like Hill was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Hill fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kingsley.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hill swinging wildly here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hill takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Hill takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to James Kingsley.
I think Hill has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
