Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ahmed Cantu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Cormier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ahmed Cantu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daniel Cormier!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cormier clinches up with Cantu and pushes him back against the cage.
Cormier is trying to stall.
Cantu could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Cantu works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Cantu throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Cormier looking for a guillotine here but Cantu defends easily.

Cormier wriggles free and stands up.
Cormier tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cantu paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cantu went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Cantu tries to keep at a distance but Cormier has taken the fight into the clinch.
Cantu is looking to take this one to the mat.

Cormier decides to pull guard.

Cormier looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cantu throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cormier works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cantu would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Cantu missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cormier is on top in guard.

Cormier wants to control from the top but Cantu keeps moving.
Cantu not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Cantu has his foot on Cormier's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cormier works his way back into a safe position though.

Cormier lands a right hook to the body.
Cormier lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Cormier tries to close the distance and clinch but Cantu swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Cantu was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Cormier blocks a head kick by Cantu.
Cormier circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cormier scores with a jab to the body.
Cormier tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cantu manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Cormier drives through and clinches with Cantu against the cage.
Cantu is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Cantu is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Cantu is pushing Cormier up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Cantu postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Cormier looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Cantu passes into half guard.

Cormier closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Cantu drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Cantu breaks from the clinch.

Cormier throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cantu was covering up waiting for the punch and Cormier finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Cormier won't allow Cantu to sweep him here.

Cantu wants to get up but he can't break Cormier's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Cantu has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Cormier manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cantu manages to get himself to full guard.

Cantu ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cantu no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

It looks like Ahmed Cantu has been cut.

Cantu controlling the position well here. Cormier rolled but Cantu kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Cantu has control of Cormier's left arm, preventing Cormier from doing any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Cormier lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cantu is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cormier's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cormier's back!

Ahmed Cantu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Daniel Cormier is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Cormier is trying to shake Cantu off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Cantu won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.

I would just about give that final round to Daniel Cormier.
Well Cormier has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
