Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Van Harvey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frito Lei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Van Harvey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 37 - 130 - 3, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frito Lei!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harvey has closed the distance and engaged Lei in a clinch.
Harvey lands a right hand.
Lei is looking to break free of the clinch but Harvey has double underhooks.
Harvey lands a shoulder strike.
Harvey pressing his opponent against the cage.
Harvey will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Lei up against the cage.
Harvey is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lei pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Lei gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Harvey.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Harvey turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Harvey controls the position.

Harvey thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Lei is trying to get back to his feet.
Harvey controls the position.

Harvey is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lei has escaped the position, nice work there.
Harvey advances to mount.

Harvey goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Lei is on top in guard.
Harvey seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Harvey has Lei pulled in close to control his posture.

Lei is looking to stand up but Harvey won't let him.
Harvey is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Harvey is on top in guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Lei wants to get back to his feet but Harvey passes into half guard.
Lei is trying to stand back up but Harvey is controlling him

Harvey is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lei is just riding it out for now. Harvey eventually gives up the hold.

Harvey is working for a kimura but Lei is defending it quite comfortably.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lei won't allow Harvey to pass to mount.
Lei looks like he's trying to stand up.
Harvey is keen to just control but Lei is a slippery customer.
Harvey is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Harvey wants to work for an arm triangle but Lei is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Van Harvey dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Lei moves into the clinch.
Lei throws a knee to the head but misses.
Lei stops a takedown attempt from Harvey.
A left hand lands to the body for Harvey.
Harvey blocks an elbow strike.
Lei letting Harvey take a breather here.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Harvey.
Lei throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Harvey blocks it with crossed arms.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lei wants to get back to striking at distance but Harvey won't allow it.

Harvey gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Lei regains guard.

Van Harvey overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee asks Harvey politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Harvey prefers to stall for the moment though.

Harvey goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Lei rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Harvey's guard! Nice work there by Lei!
Harvey tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Harvey pulls Lei in close to his closed guard and prevents Lei from doing any damage or advancing position.

Lei gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Harvey gets the takedown into side control.
Lei is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Harvey is controlling him well.

Harvey tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Harvey has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Lei is not content to let Harvey control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lei gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Harvey mounts Lei! Really nice guard pass there!

Harvey looking to control but Lei is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Harvey jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Lei is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Lei and Harvey has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Harvey remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Harvey looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Lei clinches up with Harvey and pushes him back against the cage.

Lei is trying to push Harvey away but Harvey has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Harvey has hold of one of Lei's legs. Lei is fighting the takedown attempt but Harvey gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Lei really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harvey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Harvey drops back looking for a leg! Lei is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lei manages to kick Harvey off! Harvey jumps back into Lei's guard.
Harvey controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Harvey seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lei for as long as he can get away with.
Harvey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lei is looking to stand up but Harvey isn't so interested in that idea.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lei swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Harvey is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Lei.
Harvey avoids a kick to the body.

Harvey clinches up against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Lei's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Harvey tries to pull guard but Lei forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Harvey digs a right hand underneath Lei's ribcage. Lei let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Harvey throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Leis head.
Harvey lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Lei.
Harvey looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Van Harvey. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lei has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Harvey avoiding damage.
Lei is trying to push Harvey away but Harvey has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Lei tries to break the clinch but Harvey is controlling the position.
Lei is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Harvey is keeping busy.
Harvey is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lei can do to turn this around?
Harvey wants a takedown but no success here.
Harvey lands with a short shot to the head.

The referee is keeping an eye on Harvey - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Harvey ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Harvey no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Harvey is adopting a defensive guard.

Harvey looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Lei would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Harvey has his hands on Lei's head, controlling the position.
Lei has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Harvey is proving hard to escape from.
Van Harvey is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
Van Harvey showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Harvey, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
