Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sean Herrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sam Jenkins is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sean Herrera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, David Schapiro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jenkins throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Herrera's waist but Herrera gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jenkins off to one side.
Herrera throws a big counter combination but Jenkins scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
The crowd cheers as Jenkins lands an impressive looking overhand right. Herrera doesn't seem phased though.
Herrera dives in for a single leg takedown but Jenkins sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Jenkins moves into the clinch.

Jenkins is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Herrera is aware though and is defending well.
Herrera throws an elbow that misses. Jenkins uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Herrera's guard. Nice move by Jenkins!

Herrera is looking to regain half guard here but Jenkins keeps moving and retains side control.
Herrera wants to get back to his feet but Jenkins drags him back down.

Herrera really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jenkins gets to mount! Herrera was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Herrera tries to hold on but Jenkins postures up.
Herrera is trying to escape the mount.

Jenkins takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Jenkins jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Herrera manages to avoid the submission attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Herrera tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Herrera is looking to improve his position but Jenkins isn't that keen on the idea.

The referee warns Herrera that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Herrera throws a head kick that misses.
Jenkins gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Herrera counters with a series of strikes. Jenkins will be more careful next time no doubt.

Herrera is looking to control Jenkins's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Herrera avoid being mounted?

Herrera is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jenkins in particular looking to stall.
Jenkins's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Jenkins looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Herrera with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Herrera is controlling Jenkins's position as best he can from this difficult position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

and Herrera counters with a stiff right hand.
Herrera slaps away a takedown attempt from Jenkins, before circling back to the center of the mat.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sean Herrera will probably get the nod.

Jenkins has hold of Herrera's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Herrera manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Oh Herrera is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jenkins lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
A big strike lands for Jenkins! That's really hurt Herrera and he's turned his back - Jenkins keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Jenkins jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sam Jenkins!
