PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jonnhy Four (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Neil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jonnhy Four!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, James Neil!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Damien Edna and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Neil throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Four stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The fight stays on the outside here - Four looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Four tries to clinch but Neil moves out of range.
Neil has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Four is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Neil swings widly with a right hand
and Four cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Four has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Four swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Neil misses with a combination

and Four holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Neil is trying to pull guard but Four turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Four misses with a short punch on the inside.
Four scores with a shoulder strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Neil is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Four lands with a light punch inside.
Neil blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Neil is trying to pull guard but Four turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Jonnhy Four has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Neil.

Neil tries to pull guard but Four holds him up against the cage and eventually Neil drops back down to his feet.
Neil is trying to drag Four to the mat but Four just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Four keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Neil's efforts to push away.
Four lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Four misses with a hook from the clinch.
Four working aggressively here.
A short uppercut from Four.
Four swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Four lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Neil blocks a body shot from Four.
Neil is trying to drag Four to the mat but Four just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Four lands a left hand that snaps the head of Neil backwards.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neil blocking some punches.
Four tries to throw a body punch but Neil avoids it by throwing Four back against the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Four.
Neil is trying to pull guard but Four has him pressed against the cage.
Four lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Neil has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Four avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Four fails to land.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Four creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Four doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Neil tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Four smiles and moves away.
Neil keeps the fight on the outside.

Four moves into the clinch.
Neil stalling.

Four lands with a light punch inside.
Neil is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Four to keep the fight standing.
Neil tries to pull guard but Four forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Neil is trying to pull guard but Four has him pressed against the cage.
Neil goes for a takedown attempt but Four pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Four lands a big uppercut and Neil crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Neil looks OK. Four waves Neil back to his feet!


Neil is rocked!
Four tries to close the distance and clinch up but Neil swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Four tries to clinch but Neil moves out of range.
A jab lands there for Neil.
Neil fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Four was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Nice defenses there by Neil.
No joy there for Neil, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
It looked like Four wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Four walks into a left hand.
Four slips under a jab from Neil.
Four keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Four connects with a jab.
Neil just misses with a punch to the body.
James Neil seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A decent looking cross lands there for Neil.
Neil misses with a wild body shot.
Four scores with a sloppy right hand. Neil should have avoided that one.
Neil throws a sloppy body shot
and Four counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Neil is still on wobbly legs! Can Four finish him?
Neil's jab looks to have found its range, popping Four under the eye.
Neil seems to have recovered his senses.
Neil swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Four seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Four wants to clinch up but Neil keeps it at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonnhy Four dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Four takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Neil throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Four counters with a crisp right hand that drops Neil! Four lets Neil back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Neil misses with a takedown
and Four counters with a huge left! Neil is in big trouble! He's backing up but Four isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Neil from any more damage. A dominating finish by Four!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jonnhy Four!
