PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Walter Brock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ajax Bushiri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Walter Brock has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Walter Brock seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Walter Brock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ajax Bushiri!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Francis DeMontford and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bushiri shoots in but Brock avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Brock went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Bushiri tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Brock is trying to break free.
Bushiri stops a takedown attempt from Brock.
Brock tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Bushiri pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Bushiri lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bushiri misses with a series of wild punches.

Bushiri moves into the clinch.

Brock is pressed up against the cage. Bushiri has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Brock down to the mat. Brock avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Bushiri fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Bushiri rushes Brock and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Brock has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bushiri is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Bushiri's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bushiri fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brock avoids it really well and circles away.
Walter Brock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ajax Bushiri.

Bushiri moves into the clinch successfully.
Brock tries for a takedown but Bushiri manages to get underhooks.

Bushiri is trying to drag Brock to the mat but Brock just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Bushiri escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Bushiri moves into the clinch successfully.
Bushiri goes for a takedown in the clinch but Brock prevents it.

Bushiri forces Brock back against the cage and clinches.

Brock is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Bushiri is defending well.

Brock fails to pull guard.

Bushiri has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Brock is trying to keep an underhook but Bushiri manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Bushiri not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bushiri seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Bushiri thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Bushiri is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bushiri wants to stand up but Brock is controlling the position.
Bushiri is keen to just control but Brock is a slippery customer.
Bushiri tries to pass the half guard into mount. Brock knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bushiri is defended easily by Brock.
Brock throws a body kick that misses

and Bushiri counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Bushiri lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Brock will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bushiri has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Brock is proving hard to escape from.
Bushiri must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Brock is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bushiri controls from within his opponent's guard.

Bushiri trying to control the position from guard on top but Brock is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Brock controls Bushiri momentarily but Bushiri frees himself.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Bushiri gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Bushiri is looking for a kimura but Brock is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bushiri to get the leverage.
Bushiri blocks the strikes from Brock.
Brock is not content to let Bushiri control the position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bushiri in particular looking to stall.
Brock has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bushiri is working away from the top position though.
Brock flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Bushiri is keen to just control but Brock is a slippery customer.
Bushiri has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Bushiri is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Bushiri avoids the head kick by Brock.
Bushiri changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Bushiri should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Bushiri fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bushiri throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Brock counters by clinching up.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Brock.
Bushiri drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Brock gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Brock escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bushiri goes for a double leg but Brock avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Brock continues to drive forward.

Brock misses with a body kick.

Bushiri gets a clinch.
Brock tries to break free but Bushiri pushes him back against the cage.
Ajax Bushiri seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Brock looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Bushiri is fighting off a takedown attempt but Brock is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Bushiri to the mat. Bushiri regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Bushiri is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Brock presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bushiri takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Ajax Bushiri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Bushiri lands with a few short shots to the body.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Brock lands a nice short elbow.
Bushiri throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Bushiri takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Brock is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Bushiri kicks Brock off and gets back to his feet.
Bushiri fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Brock checks it well.
Bushiri misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Brock tries to land a front kick but Bushiri steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Bushiri shoots in for a takedown but Brock shows good takedown defense.
As Bushiri tries to get set, Brock tries to push him back and clinch up but Bushiri manages to avoid the attempt.
Brock throws the kick towards the body but Bushiri avoids it.

Bushiri throws a right hand that Brock ducks under and follows up with a left that Brock also avoids with ease.

A little jabbing left from Bushiri on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Brock tries to pull guard but Bushiri forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Brock prevents a takedown attempt there.
Bushiri has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Brock after a bit of a struggle.
Brock tries to break the clinch but Bushiri is controlling the position.
Brock content to slow the pace in the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brock gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bushiri.
Bushiri has Brock pressed against the cage, preventing Brock from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Ajax Bushiri.
I've got Bushiri winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
