Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Denis Gotsov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
34 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Daniel Carneiro!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Saam Ante and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gotsov shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Gotsov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Carneiro gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Gotsov lands strikes from half guard.
Carneiro moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Gotsov in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carneiro is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Gotsov could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gotsov is looking to improve his position.
Gotsov desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Carneiro is looking to advance position but Gotsov won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Carneiro takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Carneiro is nestled in close to Gotsov, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
It looks like Denis Gotsov has been cut.
Gotsov wants to get back to full guard.
Carneiro not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Carneiro has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Carneiro is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Gotsov!
Carneiro with shots to the head and body - Gotsov looks very uncomfortable down there.

Carneiro throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Gotsov because Carneiro loaded up on that one.

Gotsov is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Carneiro locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Gotsov is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Daniel Carneiro!
Daniel Carneiro opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
