PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Claudio Rodrigues (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rodrigues has chosen Weight of my Pride as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Paulo Gracie has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Paulo Gracie seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Claudio Rodrigues!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodrigues takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Rodrigues tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gracie swivels and escapes.
Rodrigues takes one to the chin there.

Gracie gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Gracie stalling against the cage.
Rodrigues has a couple of punches blocked by Gracie.
Gracie using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Rodrigues goes for a takedown attempt but Gracie pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Rodrigues shoots in for a double leg but Gracie sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Gracie wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Paulo Gracie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Claudio Rodrigues.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rodrigues tries to keep at a distance but Gracie has taken the fight into the clinch.
Gracie unloads a knee to the mid-section. Rodrigues lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Rodrigues looks winded!

Gracie gets control of Rodrigues's arms and successfully pulls guard. Gracie will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Gracie is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Rodrigues rolls with it to try and escape but Gracie cranks on the arm and Rodrigues is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
