Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vasili Djagoev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mose Hodge!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Viktor Lagutenko and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hodge closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Djagoev avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hodge.
Djagoev blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hodge.
Hodge working the head and body with strikes.
Djagoev is looking to improve his position.
Hodge throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Hodge sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Djagoev defending well though.
Hodge has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hodge thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Djagoev's head.
Hodge decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Hodge takes one to the side of the head.
Jab, jab by Djagoev - just one landing.
Djagoev lands a lovely overhand right.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hodge throws a hook but Djagoev avoids it easily.
Djagoev throws a jab when Hodge was well out of range.
A jab from Djagoev finds it's way through Hodge's defenses.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Djagoev tests Hodge's chin there with a solid looking shot.
The fighters circling - Hodge throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hodge dives in for a single leg takedown but Djagoev sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Hodge misses with an uppercut
and Djagoev counters with a lovely shot to the body.
A punch lands to the side of Hodge 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Hodge is rocked!
Hodge gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Djagoev gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vasili Djagoev!
