Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Cave (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Mera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nick Cave is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick Cave!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 18 - 1, fighting out of London, Jose Mera!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cave keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Cave is looking for a counter combo.
Cave looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Mera throws a body punch but Cave moves out of range.
It looked like Cave was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Mera throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cave tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mera is in Cave's guard.
Cave keeping moving, preventing Mera from controlling successfully.
Mera pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cave is keeping the position for now.
Mera trying to control but Cave is working from the bottom.
Mera stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cave swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mera sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cave's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cave won't allow Mera to pass to mount.

Mera is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Mera is working for a submission of some sort.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cave tries to kick Mera off but Mera keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Cave manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Mera keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Cave throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Mera goes for a takedown in the clinch but Cave prevents it.
Mera scores with a nice hook to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mera tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Mera drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cave pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nick Cave has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Mera.
Mera throws a hook to the side of Cave's head but Cave sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mera is defended easily by Cave.
Cave tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mera was well out of range. Poor timing from Cave.
Mera ducks under a wild hook from Cave.
Mera shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cave defends it nicely.
Cave darts in trying to clinch

and Mera counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cave won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mera is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cave is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Cave tries to escape but Mera is in control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mera is working to tighten his grip on Cave's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Cave has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Mera is really squeezing tight and eventually Cave passes out! Mera breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jose Mera!
Jose Mera decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
Nick Cave spoke after the fight, saying 'im not gonna retire yet, but i started considering retirement'.
