PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kizeal Ingram (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddy Maiden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maiden has chosen Iron Maiden as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Kizeal Ingram has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Kizeal Ingram seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kizeal Ingram!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eddy Maiden!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ingram misses with an uppercut. Maiden saw that one coming.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Maiden.
Ingram throws out a loose jab but Maiden uses good head movement to avoid it.
Maiden misses with a straight right.
A head kick misses from Maiden.
Maiden moves out of range as Ingram strikes.
Ingram throws a lazy right hand but Maiden sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ingram comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Ingram ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Maiden moves away.
Maiden shapes to counter with a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maiden misses with a head kick.
Maiden thows a leg kick but Ingram checks it
enabling Ingram to counter with a crisp jab.
Ingram misses with a straight right.
And Maiden tries to counter it with a takedown but Ingram pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Ingram lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Ingram moves forwards but Maiden connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Ingram tries to clinch but Maiden moves out of range.
Maiden with the counter takedown but Ingram avoids it easily.
Ingram misses with an uppercut

so Maiden counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Maiden trying to control but Ingram is working from the bottom.
Maiden passes Ingram's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Ingram blocking the ground and pound attempt from Maiden.
Maiden throwing shots but Ingram is blocking nicely.
Maiden prevents Ingram from standing back up.
Maiden takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Maiden looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Maiden wants to advance to full mount but Ingram doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Maiden stays in close to Ingram's body and controls the position.
Maiden prevents Ingram from getting back to his feet.
Ingram looking to control.
Maiden trying to control the position from guard on top but Ingram is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Maiden stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ingram swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ingram is looking to stand up but Maiden isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Ingram blocks a head kick by Maiden.
Ingram half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
A punch lands to the side of Maiden 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Both fighters circling a little - Maiden finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Maiden uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ingram.
Ingram misses with a wild body shot.
Ingram just misses with a punch to the body.
Maiden shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ingram pinned against the cage. Ingram gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Maiden is looking to land body kicks.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Maiden.
Ingram misses with a straight left.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ingram has a couple of punches blocked by Maiden.
Maiden blocks an uppercut.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ingram.
Maiden tries a body shot but Ingram blocks it.
Maiden tries to pull guard but Ingram forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Ingram throws a punch but it's blocked by Maiden.
Maiden jumps guard but Ingram turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Kizeal Ingram has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eddy Maiden.
Maiden jumps guard but Ingram stands there with Maiden around his waist. Maiden gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Maiden's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've been informed that Maiden has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Nice uppercut lands for Ingram. That snapped Maiden's head back.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Maiden closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Maiden lands in his opponent's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kizeal Ingram will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ingram lands a right hook to the body.
Ingram throws a good cross that connects.
Ingram throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Maiden.
Maiden changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Ingram scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Ingram swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Maiden ducks right into an uppercut from Ingram.
Ingram takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Ingram slips under a jab from Maiden.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ingram rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Maiden counters with a nice uppercut.
Ingram moves out of range of the body kick.
Ingram blocks a head kick by Maiden.

Maiden throws a push kick but Ingram slaps the foot to one side.

and Ingram counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Ingram is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Maiden's half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maiden wants to control but Ingram is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Maiden drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ingram dives on top into guard.

Ingram tries to pass the half guard into mount. Maiden knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Maiden is trying to maintain the position but Ingram is very close to passing his half guard.
Maiden moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Ingram sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Maiden's guard.

Ingram fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Maiden manages to avoid it.
Ingram tries to close the distance and clinch up but Maiden swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Maiden gets a takedown into half guard.
Maiden is just content to waste time from the top position. Ingram takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Eddy Maiden has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kizeal Ingram is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Maiden working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ingram's head.

Ingram pulls Maiden in close to his closed guard and prevents Maiden from doing any damage or advancing position.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kizeal Ingram.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ingram, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
